You understand the pattern. You’re ready for something to change.
You tell yourself you’ll speak up next time, but when the moment comes, you keep the peace. You want closeness, but part of you stays prepared for disappointment. Even after a relationship ends, you may still question your feelings, replay conversations, or wonder why you accepted less than you needed.
It’s exhausting to recognize what hurts and still feel caught in it.
At Kindred Sol Therapy, individual therapy offers space to explore how past relational hurt affects your life today—and support to begin responding differently.
Individual Therapy
Does any of this feel familiar?
You say yes when you want to say no, then feel overwhelmed or resentful.
You worry that expressing your needs will lead to conflict, rejection, or someone leaving.
You replay conversations and question whether your feelings are reasonable.
You want connection but shut down, pull away, or become reactive when you feel vulnerable.
You keep finding yourself in relationships where you give more than you receive.
A painful relationship is over, but the hurt still affects how you see yourself and trust others.
You don’t have to identify your experience as trauma to seek support. We can start with what’s happening now and what you want to feel different.
Make room for the hurt behind the pattern
Past experiences can shape what you expect from others, what feels safe to say, and how you protect yourself when a relationship feels uncertain.
Keeping the peace, staying on guard, or pulling away may have helped you get through difficult experiences. Today, those same responses may leave you feeling disconnected from your needs or from the people you want to be close to.
Our work makes room for both: understanding what you’ve been through and practicing changes that matter in your life now.
With a trauma-informed, attachment-focused approach, we’ll explore your experiences with care and curiosity. We’ll pay attention to what comes up emotionally, what happens between you and others, and what helps you feel more grounded.
What we can work toward together
Expressing your needs and setting boundaries
Practice recognizing what you need and saying it more clearly even when guilt or fear of disappointing someone shows up.
Responding differently when emotions feel overwhelming
Develop tools for moments when you shut down, become reactive, or get caught in overthinking.
Rebuilding trust in yourself
Make room for your feelings, take your needs seriously, and work toward decisions that reflect what matters to you.
Healing from past relational hurt
Explore experiences that continue to affect your sense of worth, trust, or security, at a pace that respects your readiness.
Building more secure connections
Notice familiar relationship patterns and practice ways of connecting that allow room for closeness, honesty, and your own needs.
We’ll choose goals together. Your progress may show up in everyday moments: pausing before an automatic yes, speaking up sooner, or staying present during a difficult conversation.
What will sessions feel like?
You don’t need a perfectly organized story. You can arrive feeling unsure, overwhelmed, or uncertain where to begin.
I’m Yolanda, and I bring warmth, thoughtful questions, and practical support to our work. We’ll start with what feels most difficult right now, then explore the experiences and patterns connected to it.
Some sessions may involve making sense of something painful. Others may focus on practicing a boundary, finding words for a need, or exploring what happened during a recent interaction. We’ll check in about what feels helpful and adjust our work together.
You’ll have a voice in the process, including our goals and pace.
